Capretto Submits First Medical Device Application and Prepares for Market Launch

Preparing for Market Introduction
In parallel with the regulatory process, Capretto has begun preparations for
commercialization. This includes securing reliable supplies of pharmaceutical-grade
raw materials, establishing manufacturing capacity, developing distribution channels,
and preparing the technical and educational documentation required for healthcare
professionals, pharmacies and consumers.

Capretto plans its first market introductions in Iceland, Sweden and Japan, working
together with established partners in each country.

The company intends to build on these initial markets as it develops a broader
international commercialization strategy for its antimicrobial technology.

Next Application: Treatment of Otitis Externa
Capretto is simultaneously preparing its next medical device application, targeting otitis
externa, an inflammatory and frequently infectious condition of the external ear canal.
The company believes this represents an increasingly relevant area as earphones,
earbuds and other devices are used for extended periods in or around the ear canal.
The antimicrobial formulation is based on a common technology platform, which is
expected to allow Capretto to build substantially on the development, manufacturing
and regulatory work already completed for its first product.

Expanding the Technology into Women's Health
Capretto has also developed a treatment platform for bacterial vaginosis (BV) in
collaboration with Dr. Ina Schuppe Koistinen at Karolinska Institute in Stockholm supported partly by a Eurostar grant. BV is
one of the most common vaginal conditions among women of reproductive age. Rather
than focusing solely on eliminating pathogenic microorganisms, Capretto's approach is
intended to help restore and support the natural microbial environment that protects
the vaginal mucosa. A clinical study will be required to establish the safety and e􀆯icacy
of this product.

Built on Decades of Icelandic Research
Capretto was founded in 2014, but the scientific foundation of the company reaches
back several decades. The technology builds on pioneering research conducted by Dr.
Halldór Þormar, Professor Emeritus, on the antimicrobial properties of naturally
occurring lipids and their derivatives. This work was developed over many years in
collaboration with the late Dr. Þórdís Kristmundsdóttir and the late Dr. Peter Holbrook,
whose scientific contributions form an important part of the foundation on which
Capretto's technology has been developed.

Capretto's objective is to translate this extensive scientific legacy into practical
antimicrobial products that can address common infections while reducing
unnecessary reliance on conventional antimicrobial medicines.

The submission of the company's first medical device application therefore represents
more than a regulatory milestone: it marks the beginning of Capretto's transition from
decades of scientific research toward bringing its technology to patients and
consumers.
